I AM CONFUSED 🥴.
I AM VERY CONFUSED!
And that's just in life.
Add United on top of that and good Lord, I don't know what the hell is going on!
We all know the news that United have apparently pulled out of the race to sign Sandro Tonali. The same player who was the top midfield target for so long.
This obviously got us all excited to a point where we started to believe that perhaps this is a change in the club, that we're no longer going to see a poorly run Man Utd and that we're going to act like a big club.
👎.
I was wrong.
I'm not going to give you the full details as it is in this Athletic article but I will tell you that Elliot Anderson is now the frontrunner even though Man City look to be the club leading the race to sign him - and you know we don't win transfer races. The article also says that Carlos Baleba is ranked among the likes of Tonali and Anderson in the eyes of United despite a let's be honest, pretty shite season.
So we went from looking like we could sign Tonali, to having hope of Anderson to now potentially just getting Baleba out of our top three targets.
And for me, he is the worst one.
A bit of a snippet from that article though, is that it says that United find Tonali to be too expensive and look at his issues with gambling a couple years ago as reasons to say no to this potential deal.
That will get a decent amount of fans on side because we don't want to overspend. Being a gambler is off-putting as well.
People will then think that perhaps the club is right to move away from him.
United are good at this: making someone look worse than they are for their own benefit.
Now saying that Anderson is our top target, people will look at the Tonali price and his gambling ban and say 'yeah, maybe it's best to move away from him. I always preferred Anderson anyway.'
I'm struggling to understand what the club want tbh.
Do they want to be successful? Do they want us to have the best players? Do they want us to win the league in a couple of years?
To me it seems like all they want is to get people on the cheap (look at Michael Carrick as permanent manager as another example) whilst their main focus is on the new stadium.
That's it. The new stadium is all the club cares about.
I don't even know what to say, only that perhaps I shouldn't be surprised.
We've seen this type of spin before from United when it comes to players we want only for them to say it's highly unlikely a few weeks later.
This video sums up my frustrations:
Where to for United from here because lads, I'm struggling 😩.
