There is only one matter to attend to for United in the final match of the season and you already know what I'm going to say,
SHUT ROY KEANE UP!
You know him talking shite about Bruno and the team celebrating his record-equalling assist just boiled my blood because in a dead rubber game, there wasn't much to play for so the only thing worth celebrating was the assist record. And there was nothing wrong with that.
So if Bruno breaks the record on Sunday, they should celebrate even harder.
I don't want to go too in-depth here but all I'm saying is, the energy and what the former captain said was correct. But his target was wrong.
That assist record is the aim of this game. There's literally nothing else to play for.
Predicted Lineup
But I think the lineup will also be quite interesting. To see what Carrick will do ahead of the Brighton game is something that I'm looking forward to.

And yet, I don't think it will be that interesting at all. Which is what makes it interesting.
Carrick doesn't come across as that type of manager who will bench experienced players for youngsters, even in less important games.
I also believe he is a manager who likes his favourites, two of which weren't selected for the England World Cup squad.
Shaw and Maguire will start because they will be disappointed after being ommitted by Thomas Tuchel. I doubt Carrick will add to that pain by benching them in the final game of the season.
Obviously there will be no Casemiro as he played his final game for the club last week. Since Carrick has preferred Mount over Ugarte - I don't know whether that is a good thing or not - but it will most likely be the no 7.
And then the front line should be unchanged as well. I don't think Sesko will be fit, at least not from the start, so Mbeumo to remain up top. Hopefully after his goal last week, he will have gained some confidence and score once again.
Yet in his presser, the new permanent boss hinted at the possibility of using the youngsters.
I'd like to see that. I think we all would.
This doesn't mean that I want him to play a full academy side. I'd just want to see what some of them are about.
I don't think there's a real need for Martinez and Maguire to start. Surely in a match like this it gives you as good an opportunity as any to select Yoro and Heaven?
One of the Fletcher's could play in midfield since Casemiro is no longer here. Maybe give Lacey a chance. Have Chido Obi, at least on the bench, as Zirkzee ain't it. Why not try Dorgu at left-wing since he was doing really well there before his injury?
I think that would be a side with a lot more intrigue.
Approach
Honestly, with all that being said about the lineup, I don't care too much 😭. I don't even care how we play, not that we play a great brand of football anyway, and nor do I necessarily care about this result.
United have one job for this match:
GET BRUNO ASSIST NUMBER 21 AND BREAK THAT RECORD!
I feel like if anyone deserves something to take away from this awful season, it is the magnifico.
Ultimately, this does lead into what Roy Keane was saying about standards. It actually proves him right even more, even though in that video I criticized him for targeting Bruno and the players when that should be aimed at the owners.
But Keane is right. We shouldn't be celebrating a potential assist record. We shouldn't be thinking that his game means nothing because every game has something to play for.
Yet considering that we've been shit for so long, we might as well get something from this campaign.
And this assist thing btw, is to make PREMIER LEAGUE history.
It's not something for United, it's not even an individual award from the league itself, but to do something no one has ever done before.
21 or more assists would be the most in the competition's 34-year history.
That's why this record is so important.
It would be monumental. And for it to be a United player achieving this in our worst period in a long time makes it even more unbelievable.
Bruno deserves this. WE deserve this as fans too because we've been through a lot of shit. Something like this - breaking a league record - would give us something to smile about after one of the worst seasons ever, and even something to remember it by.
Since we haven't changed our pragmatic approach throughout Carrick's time in charge, I feel that even in the final game with nothing riding on it, we will play the same. It's actually something else that I would like to see changed: a more attacking brand of football that would actually make me optimistic about Carrick as manager and for next season.
I'm not going to go too in-depth with this preview like I usually do because what's the point? Final game, nothing to play for, unlikely to see anything different from the manager or team, and all we really care about is Bruno breaking the assist record.
Even though I said I don't necessarily care about the result, this doesn't mean that I want us to lose. Brighton is always a tough game and with them fighting for European football, they will certainly be taking this game very seriously, which could actually work in our favour.
Brighton are usually quite open and being at home and a lot to play for for them, we can just play on the counter, which would suit us pretty well and give Bruno every opportunity to break the record, if his teammates actually take the chances of course 😅.
Ultimately, I think it will end in a draw.
2-2 to finish off the season.
How are you feeling ahead of the final game of the campaign?
