Man Utd better get a move on

This transfer window just goes from bad to worse. A lot of it has to do with United not doing anything.

And now that's led us here.

This news that came out last night isn't necessarily directly involving United but it kinda involves United.

So, David Ornstein said this regarding a potential move for Yoanne Wissa to Nottingham Forest: "Nottingham Forest renew pursuit of Yoane Wissa - fresh offer made to Brentford for 28yo Congo striker. Bid falls under £25m #NFFC were prepared to pay in Jan window & considerably lower than #BrentfordFC valuation; in excess of £50m."

The United Stand had Ben Jacobs on their live show yesterday afternoon and he said that Brentford don't want to lose both Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo in one window 👀.

Wissa has now been linked to Forest after he was linked to Spurs a couple of days ago so there is obvious interest for the player. That interest from Spurs may die down after the 'Here we go' was given to both Mohammed Kudus and Morgan Gibbs-White in the last two days.

It's the Gibbs-White transfer that affects United.

As Forest are losing an attacker, they would want to replace him and as soon as possible. Wissa could be that replacement. Again, I doubt Spurs will go back in for him as they have just signed two forwards meaning that perhaps Forest are the only club wanting to sign the man from Congo.

This now appears to be a race between United and Mbeumo and Forest and Wissa. Whichever one goes, the other may stay.

Speaking of staying, Brentford Director of Football Phil Giles came out and said in a recent interview that while Mbeumo would like to leave, he doesn't mind staying: “if needs be, he’s happy to stay” and mentioned that they would only sell if the right offer comes in.

That offer has obviously not come in as the 25 year old is still a Bee. United's latest offer for the forward of £62.5m was rejected as they apparently want £65m or even £70m.

It was initially thought that Brentford wanted a fee and deal similar to that of Matheus Cunha. MUFC bought the Brazilian from Wolves after triggering his release clause of £62.5m.

That and a previous offer of £55m were not the amounts the Bees were looking for for Mbeumo and has resulted in this long and now frankly boring deal to sign a player who wants to join United, something he said on June 2nd [David Ornstein].

There was also reports of Mbeumo himself being frustrated with how long this deal is taking [Rich Fay via UtdXclusive]. And who can blame him? This isn't a great thing to know that a player who wants to join your club is becoming disgruntled at the length of time it's taking to get him over the line.

It's been 38 days since the news dropped that he wants to come to United. In that time, Mbeumo hasn't joined (we haven't even had a 'Here we go'), no other player has joined and the club haven't sold anyone either.

I wrote this talking about how sooner or later, people will want Amorim gone because results and performances are shit. Things like deals taking forever will lead us down that all too familiar path.

We also have the new co-owners who've done much and more that have really upset the fan base and even those in the club including players. You would've thought that they would want to make an improvement to what the Glazers have done (which shouldn't have been hard given how poorly they've run the club) yet somewhow, INEOS have been even worse than the owners we all want out.

How is that even possible? Worse than the Glazers 🤦‍♂️.

CEO Omar Berrada had this to say regarding transfers while United were in Asia:

"I can't talk about specific names, but we've been planning for many months, considering different scenarios. We're clear about where to invest. We'll execute the plan."

Err, yeah.

I don't even know what to say about that.

Planning for months? On what? What are these different scenarios? For me, it's just about getting the best deals rather than paying what's necessary. I'm not sure what's taking so long with Mbeumo because £65m is pretty fair for him.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has also used the phrase "best in class" on several occasions in regards to staff, finding the right people for recruitment and to underline the ambition of wanting to hire the best people to get the club back to the top.

They seem to be talking the talk but not walking the walk.

Hiring best in class they say. If this is best in class...

To top it all of, ESPN are reporting that Garnacho has been granted permission to meet up with his United teammates in pre-season training.

I'm not going to jump the gun and start getting upset that this is the case. We had the news yesterday that the Napoli president said “Yes we want him, he’s at Manchester United. We take him from United and he becomes twice the player” which was reported by multiple Man Utd aggregators but ended up being not true according to Fabrizio Romano. So you have to be very careful with what's true and what isn't.

With that being said, you wouldn't be surprised if United did allow Garnacho to train with his teammates. That would be so us.

I don't know what to think anymore. Do the club even care? I feel like that is the question.

This is why I have those reservations that the manager could be gone sometime this season.

What do y'all make of all of this? Sad, isn't it?

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
