And he's doing everything possible.

Long-time target of United's looks to be forcing a move out of his current club Sporting Lisbon as the player seems desperate to leave the Portuguese champions.

The man behind the mask is a player that we all want to see at United given not only his quality but the fact that he played under Ruben Amorim. He already knows this manager and system making ready-made for the team.

And it seems that we might be closer to getting him with this latest update.

Record Portugal, a Portuguese football outlet,  are saying that "Viktor Gyokeres has told Sporting he will never play for them again - the player is ready to go on strike & will not return for pre season.

The relationship between the club and player is broken.

Manchester United & Arsenal remain interested."

It is never nice to see such a thing occur but it could work in our favor. While the report says that Arsenal are also interested, we know that they are more in for Benjamin Sesko rather than Gyokeres making it appear as if it's a one-horse race for United to sign the Swede.

We know there's been many links with the player pretty much since Amorim joined United back in mid-November. We're in need of a striker and Gyokeres would make sense. However, there's also been talk about the other Victor as Osimhen has also been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. There's a potential deal to be done including one of United's current forwards.

But it does look like Viktor with a K is top of the list when it comes to strikers United want to sign.

All this about arguably the best striker in the world came after there was news about him being "furious" with Sporting due to a breakdown in their "gentleman's agreement" when it came to a potential transfer.

The reports were that Sporting told Gyokeres that he could leave the club for €60m with add-ons worth up to €10m which is well below his €100m release clause.

Where the 27 year old became furious was when the Sporting president Frederico Varandas said to be demanding €80m for the forward. Gyokeres then removed both Sporting and Nike from his Instagram profile which caused many to believe that this story is true.

The fact that he might not go on pre-season or even return to the club is not good for them...

...but potentially excellent for United.

Sky Sports reported that United had made an initial approach through intermediaries (whatever that means) for the striker.

Gyokeres has also reportedly said that it doesn't matter that United aren't in the Champions League or playing in Europe at all as he wouldn't mind joining anyway.

This public fallout isn't going to help Sporting in trying to get as much money for him as possible. Clubs look at these fallouts and say that this is a player who clearly doesn't want to be at the club so we will give you what we want, to a reasonable amount. I mean, we ain't gonna offer them €40m is what I'm saying.

It's a similar situation to Garnacho.

But whatever the case is, it's clear that Viktor Gyokeres wants OUT of Sporting Lisbon and the only true destination for him seems to be Old Trafford.

Is it too soon to start printing the shirts with his name on it? 😅

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
