Torino's shotstopper has entered the ranks of MUFC as they look to an ex-Red to help get Ruben Amorim's side back on track. The Serbian international is the brother of the more famous Milinkovic-Savic, Sergej who also used to play in Serie A for Lazio but now currently plies his trade at Al-Hilal who are linked with Bruno Fernandes.

The goalkeeper has come up as an option in goal thanks to Andre Onana's inconsistent form as the Cameroonian has been involved in far too many cock ups that have put United under unnecessary pressure.

The aspect of his game that was supposed to be an improvement on former 'keeper David de Gea is nowhere near good enough as well. This poor distribution and unreliability has caused many to even want backup Altay Bayindir to take his place with their even being a period where Onana was worried that manager Amorim might do just that.

He was saved by the Turk picking up an injury that kept him out for two months allowing for Onana to remain as no 1.

However, that maybe short-lived due to this latest news about Milinkovic-Savic. Fabrizio Romano reports that "Manchester United have added Vanja Milinković-Savić to their shortlist for new goalkeeper.

Initial contacts took place for Torino GK among candidates for next season, waiting on price tag and more."

So it appears to be concrete that we are in for a new goalkeeper and perhaps the 28 year old (yes, he's 28!) is the one to take over that no 1 position for Ruben Amorim.

Milinkovic-Savic joined United in 2014 from his native Serbia on a €1.75m deal. He then went back to his old club Vojvodina on loan on a couple of occasions before he was let go for free in 2016 where he joined Lechia Gdansk.

Torino then bought him for €2.6m but was sent on loan again the next season, this time to Spal. He has been all around Italy whilst in err, Italy, but also spent a season at Standard Liege in 19/20 before returning to Torino where he has been ever since.

He stands at 2.02m tall making him a giant in goal. Onana is pretty big at 1.91m but this dwarfs him. The Cameroonian also appears quite small due to his weak nature in goal. He very rarely comes for crosses and on the odd occasion he does, isn't the strongest in terms of clearing the ball.

Onana also isn't the best when it comes to saving penalties (and I guess saving in general) so to know that you have a giant in goal when it comes to shootouts in particular, it will make you feel more confident.

When you look at his stats and compilations, he does appear to be an upgrade to Onana although I would be an upgrade to Onana, let's be honest.

Milinkovic-Savic also just looks very intimidating with his bald head and tattoos all over. That is an added bonus as well.

Of course there's more to it than just size, tattoos and penalty saving as we need someone who is commanding in the box, good at crosses, communicative in terms of the organization at the back and have good distribution which is perhaps high on the list of what a goalkeeper needs when playing under Amorim.

This is just the start of the talk about Vanja Milinkovic-Savic but the fact that we're looking for a new goalkeeper is positive in my books as Onana has been woeful.

Once there's more about VMS, updates will follow.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
