An update that we all didn't want to hear and it comes from the man himself David Ornstein, so you know it's legit.
The report:
"The gap between Manchester United and Brentford on their valuation of Bryan Mbeumo remains considerable...The two sides are several million pounds apart.
There have been no significant developments over the past couple of weeks, and a deal is still not imminent."
β
I don't know what to even say anymore.
Although, I'm not surprised. This is Man Utd after all π€·ββοΈ.
And like I said, it's coming from The Athletic.
β
Let's get this straight.
On the 2nd of June, Ornstein himself came out with that bomb that Mbeumo wants to join United:
β
June 2nd.
Whilst scrolling through Ornstein's timeline, I saw the amount of posts where he says similar things regarding players wanting moves elsewhere or clubs exploring deals only for him to tweet a couple weeks later that the deal is pretty much done.
Every club moves fast. Except ours.
That Mbeumo update was 43 days ago. 43. That is just over 6 weeks.
And not only have we not done anything regarding Mbeumo, we still haven't sold anybody nor have we signed anyone else. It's not as if all we needed was the addition of Mbeumo and we will be title challengers.
β
United have had this stupid habit of only being able to do one deal at a time which ended up holding us back when it came to other business. This then resulted in players who should've been sold remaining at the club as well as panic buys at the end of the window for players that weren't high on the list. To top it all off, we end up overpaying for this panic buys.
Jadon Sancho was heavily linked with joining United in 20/21 but after months of talks, the deal fell through and we ended up having to wait a year to bring him in for Β£72m. That turned out to be quite the waste.
I don't think I need to remind you of Frenkie De Jong.
And now it seems that we have to add Mbeumo to this as well.
β
What are we doing? Like seriously, what the fuck are we doing?
INEOS at this point, are worse than the Glazers. Never thought I'd be saying that.
At least with the Glazers, whenever we've had a previously horrific season, they've spent money. Poor 23/24, spent money on five new players for 24/25. Poor 21/22, spent money for Erik ten Hag in his first season. Mourinho got money when he joined. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a couple of players come in as well after Jose was sacked.
This is INEOS' second season in charge. Ruben Amorim is the manager they wanted which is something that cannot be stressed enough like how can you want to employ a manager and then not back him?! They do realize that the players we have a shite and untrsutworthy?
Surely you'd want to give Amorim all he needs in order to be successful or at least to some level of success. One player signed, no players sold.
They talk about the new stadium and wanting Amorim to be the manager by the time it opens in 2030. We have to worry about whether he'll be here next year with this lack of backing let alone in five years time!
We've also been involved in this Mbeumo transfer for so long that backing out now would be seen as really foolish. A week or two, and you can get away with it but after 6 weeks, you just have to find a way to get this done.
β
People have been mentioning that maybe United are going to do such a United thing and perhaps unveil Mbeumo along with the new away kit which is launching tomorrow. They did the same with Cunha with the new home kit but that came out not long after last season ended. The away kit as we know, is being released 2 months later.
If this is the case and it is a big IF (although you wouldn't put it past United doing something like this), how stupid would it be? To wait this long to unveil a new player who's said he wants to come to the club so long ago just so you could do it with a new kit, shouldn't actually be surprising now that I think of it. It's not as if we're a football club, one of the biggest in the world, who had it's worst-ever season and are in need of serious improvement on the pitch. Nah, that can't be us. That would be MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB. We are BRANDchester United and we certainly ain't no football club.
I spoke about how soon or late, due to all of this incompetence from the board and owners, we will be seeing 'Amorim out' because all the blame always goes onto the manager, even things out of his control.
β
Tbh, do we actually need Mbeumo? This is a thought I've had not long after he said he wants to join the club. Signing two attacking midfielders was not something I felt we needed to do.
Before you start thinking this is me saying I don't want Mbeumo and giving the club a way out, think again because as he did say he wants to join United, he is an improvement to our side and we've spent so long on this deal, I want him.
But this club man π€¦ββοΈ. I tell ya, they will be the death of us.
Wonder what Ruben Amorim is thinking.
