Technically, with all he said, ex-legend and my personal favorite midfielder of all time Paul Scholes was correct when giving some advice to United target Matheus Cunha.
The Wolves forward has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a little bit now and everyday there seems to be more news telling us that he will sign for the club.
However, Scholes informs Cunha that maybe this isn't the best decision.
Scholes on TNT:
"Matheus Cunha is obviously athletic, and heβs got quality with 15 league goals this season. I just worry for any signing coming to #mufc at the minute. It just feels like itβs such a bad place to go. The quality of play right now is so poor..."
Like I said, he isn't actually wrong and I appreciate the honesty but this is perhaps a little too honest.

United are shit. From top to bottom, there's very little to be happy with about the club and on top of it all, our greatest rivals have just equalled our record 20 English top flight titles while we are hoping to not finish just above the drop zone.
This does make it "a bad place" as Scholes says, to go to for any player. The football as well is quite shocking most of the time. Tbh, I don't think Cunha (or any other player for that matter) needed someone like Scholes to tell them how awful things are in the red side of Manchester. Everyone has eyes and ears after all.
But when you do hear an ex-club legend say things like this about his own club, it will make one rethink their choices.
I'm not sure whether Cunha was/is looking at United to be his preferred destination but with all the reports and the fact that he and his dad are liking and viewing social media posts linking him with a move to the club, it does appear that the Brazilian will swap Molineux for Old Trafford.

What was the need for Scholes to be this honest? Sure he could've said that things aren't great at United and it will take time to get to where the club want to be but then added that maybe someone like Cunha could be the guy to help take us there. That would've inspired him a little more to say 'yes, I am him.'
Instead of discouraging players, why not encourage them?
This kind of goes against what Amorim said not so long ago that a club like United will always attract top players regardless of the situation simply because we are who we are.
United are in desperate need of players such as Cunha. The more players we have like him, the better the chances are of us getting out of the position we're in. I alsways reference these two players when talking about the profile of player needed at MUFC: Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs De Ligt.
These two are experienced, played at the highest level, are quality and are a good age. Look how well they've done for us this season. Cunha is the same.
β
I'm actually just tired of these ex-players. They are always soooooo negative towards United and I understand that there is very little to be positive about. But one of those things to be positive about is the fact that we can still attract good players like Cunha who have a better chance of making us successful compared to others of lower quality which could be the type of players we now bring in because of comments like this from Scholes.
They can be critical and honest in their assessment of the club but surely try to be positive in whatever way they can.
Imagine what this could do for the current squad and manager. They hear something like this from an ex-legend and all it does is drop their confidence and you know how easily these players can drop their heads. They don't need any extra motivation.
And to say this all before the biggest tie in our recent history makes it even worse. We need the players to be heading to Bilbao and Old Trafford next week as confident as possible because I tell you what, we don't win this competition and we will take even longer to improve and then I don't know what more negativity these ex-players will have to say.
What did you make of Scholes' comments and the comments of the ex-players in general?
