Forget about Ornstein BOMB we now have Ruben Amorim BOMB! π£
The MUFC boss conducted his first interview of the new season after quite some time and after what he said, many would've preferred for him to have stayed shut.
Amorim and United are over in the United States of Alabama for their pre-season tour, just as they are for most pre-seasons (do they not know there are United fans around the world not just the US?! It's very frustrating tbh) ahead of the team's first game of the Premier League Summer Series against West Ham.
There was a lot that he said but perhaps some of the more worrying stuff concerned the squad.
And mainly, the 'bomb squad', you know who they are.
This was his quote:
βIf they reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our playersβ.
βIf the club doesn't get the right price, they will stay. I am ready to receive the playersβ.
So, if the club don't sell these MFs, are you going to welcome them back with open arms? You're going to be happy with a returning Antony who you deemed not good enough resulting in his loan to Real Betis? You're going to be happy with a waste of money in Jadon Sancho who has never performed in a United shirt and disrespected the club? And you're going to be happy with another player who also disrespected the club and you, and who you apparently told to fuck off? Okay he may not have said fuck off but he may as well have done π€·ββοΈ.
If he is truly open to this then he is throwing himself under the bus, bringing disrespect towards himself and probably would suggest he may not be the guy for us.
β
As the United manager, when you get rid of players or want to get rid of them and for valid reasons as all of Antony, Sancho and Garnacho have their issues one way or another, but then are open to them returning, it does make you think as a fan,
'Is this guy really cut out to be United manager?'
More than that, he also said his famous line of "we are going to suffer" again but that he would be content with the current squad he has: βWe need to be really careful when we sign players. If we start the season with this squad, I am happyβ.
Bro is really pushing our buttons π .
β
Now I get that he might be saying all of this because he has to as he is in front of the cameras plus Matheus Cunha was next to him but I hope he's lying. I hope behind the scenes he is upset at the incomings and outgoings.
The fact that he said 'we are going to suffer' in his first presser of the new season which is his first full campaign in charge, maybe something to read between the lines.
All we've done is sign a young left-back (Diego Leon), two no 10s (Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo) and loaned Rashford. All signings are good and so were the deals themselves. Letting go of Rashford in some way is better than not letting him go at all. You never know, maybe Amorim would've been happy to keep him as well π.
The issue has been more with the length of time it took to do the Mbeumo and Rashford deals rather than the deals themselves although ideally we would've liked to have paid less to Brentford and sold Rashford instead of loaning him.
But that business is not enough. Not even close.
United have the most squad rebuilding to do in football as there are several positions that needed (and still need) improving upon and there are far too many players who have to be moved on yet are still here and via the manager's words, if they happen to remain at United beyond the transfer window, maybe they'll never leave? Or at least not for some time.
β
I want him to succeed. I think we all do. I feel like we're all tired of sacking managers, bringing in new ones and having to start the cycle again. Amorim marks the fifth time we've done this with a permanent manager.
There's even been talk amongst the fan base of when he'll get sacked π³.
People feel as though his days are numbered π.
With comments like these, it's hard to argue with that.
Amorim does know that most of these players can't be trusted, right? Some are too old, too injury prone, too shite, have a weak mentality and have even worse attitudes. He joins the queue of managers who've been let down by this lot many times, and Amorim hasn't even been here a year!
β
INEOS also won't want their first managerial appointment to fail. They've already caused so many issues with what they've done in terms of their cost-cutting measures, increased ticket prices and more, and people have even said that they are worse than the Glazers! And by people I mean myself but you can also see it, can't you?
Sack a manager so soon into your reign as co-owners and head of the football side of things and people will believe you are no different to the American owners.
I doubt they want that.
This is why they have to do better in the market. There is still time but the 1st of September is in 6 weeks and the start of the season is in 3. To be heading into that Arsenal game with no new striker, midfielder and goalkeeper is seriously concerning. Not bringing in the players needed before the start of the season not only jeopardises the beginning of the campaign but can have huge ramifications for the season overall.
β
If Amorim starts off badly as well, he won't survive that long. We are shit, haven't really improved the squad, still have a load of crap players and we know there's no easy game in the PL. This is on top of finishing 15th, going trophy-less and having no European football: the worst season. E V E R!
Oh yes, and the first five games include Arsenal, City and Chelsea, who were all already miles better than us and have strengthened even further.
You could say those are three defeats already. Fulham and Burnley won't be easy either. A trip to Brentford follows those first five before United head to Anfield in mid-October. Brighton who've had our number in recent seasons travel to OT where they've won on their last three visits and that is followed by a trip to Forest who did the double over us last season as well.
Then we take on the side that beat us on four occasions including the Europa League final in Spurs after that.
I didn't intend on going this far into next season's fixtures to make that point about how tough every game will be, but FUCK ME THESE ARE SOME HARD BLOODY GAMES! And this is only until November π.
Yeah, bro ain't gonna last until Christmas with this squad that he's supposedly happy with.
β
But what do you think? Is Amorim lying and giving us the professional answer as manager of Man Utd? Or is he genuinely happy with his current squad?
Please be the former π.
