I know that at the moment, everyone is excited by the signing of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo knwoing where he's going in life by choosing United over CL clubs, and now the news that captain Bruno Fernandes is STAYING at the club.
Well, some may not be so happy at that last point but I don't want to be negative.
However, more exciting news (if you want to call it that) but no less important is the potential of Rasmus Hojlund going back to Italy.
There's been several reports for a while linking the Dane with a move back to Serie A and this time, it is League and Champions League runners-up Inter who have expressed a desire to sign the striker.
Fabrizio Romano has said that "Inter Milan have made CONTACT with Rasmus Højlund’s camp in the recent days.
Talks have started for the Danish striker to LEAVE Manchester United."
However, other reports are saying that the forward wants to stay at United despite this interest from Inter [UtdDistrict].
I find this potential departure to be good news because we know that Hojlund has been seriously struggling throughout this recent season and while he is young, developmental and without that mentor (which makes things difficult for any young player), the 22 year old hasn't really displayed anything in 24/25 to suggest any reason to keep him.
He's shown nothing of a top striker and having only scored 10 goals (4 of which in the league), it's led to everyone wanting him gone. Even as someone who was willing to give him every chance, I've run out of patience because like I said, he has been showing NOTHING when playing as striker: poor hold up play, there's no link up, positioning and awareness is awful, not the strongest, weak in the air, and he can't score.
What really is the point?
I know we still don't create many chances for the no 9 and has been an issue for several years but Hojlund isn't really doing his bit as that centre-forward.
With the likes of Cunha, potentially Mbeumo, Bruno staying and someone like Amad not to mention Maguire down the wing 😉, perhaps there will be more goal scoring opportunities for Hojlund or anyone else who plays up top. Cunha and Mbeumo both also have this ability to play as striker which can be beneficial for us and Hojlund as the pressure may not be too much for him to bear.
It's clear that from this past season, the weight of the United shirt got to him.
While it is a loan to buy option, just the fact that he could be gone means that we will have to get a striker, although we needed to even with Hojlund at the club.
The only other centre-forward options are Joshua Zirkzee, who isn't actually a striker, and Chido Obi, who is a youngster. We cannot be going into a new and super important campaign without a recognized no 9. We sort of did that last season and look what happened.
Yes we might have two of the more creative players in the league with Cunha and Bruno who also happen to score a decent amount of goals, and perhaps a third in Mbeumo as well, but none of them are strikers. It's very rare that teams perform well up front without a proper target man. I doubt that Ruben Amorim wants to take that risk.
But more news coming in from The Athletic could be exactly what we want to hear.
Laurie Whitwell says that "Rúben Amorim remains a major admirer of Viktor Gyökeres.
Although Victor Osimhen’s expected wages had been seen as prohibitive, #mufc could reevaluate now that the move for Liam Delap is off."
We obviously know the connection between Amorim and Gyokeres but the fact that Liam Delap going to Chelsea means that we could have the money to bring in Osimhen is music to all our ears 😌.
Either Vic(k)tor would be fine but we absolutely need one of them to come in. To think that we were going for a relegated, young striker to potentially having one of the two best in Europe proves that sometimes, things work out.
I'm not saying that this will happen but the fact that we've managed to bring in Cunha and looking like Mbeumo as well, who's to say we can't pull one of the two best strikers in Europe?
The other option that came out last night was a player who is also tied with Al-Hilal: Aleksander Mitrovic.
The former Fulham striker is said to be a consideration by United after Delap's move to Chelsea. "Mitrovic is ready to take a pay cut and Al-Hilal have valued the player at £40M" [Ben Jacobs] via Goals Side.
When you've still got the ability to pull some of the best players in the Premier League then we really shouldn't be looking at someone like Mitrovic, with all due respect. He is probably better than Hojlund but tbh, I'm better than Hojlund but just because a player is better than what we have, that shouldn't mean we have to buy them. We still do have a standard and as we can see, a strong pull as well.
Mitrovic is a no especially if we can get Gyokeres or Osimhen.

And on Mbeumo, Florian Plettenberg says United "want to start negotiations with Brentford shortly in order to finalise the deal for Bryan #Mbeumo.
The player has already given his approval. Verbal agreement is done.
#MUFC are optimistic that the transfer will go through. It would be their second statement signing in attack after Matheus Cunha."
We know that if we can agree a fee which is reportedly £60m with the Bees then this transfer should be done relatively quickly. To think that we're only three days into the window and we already have Cunha, Bruno staying and potentially Mbeumo,
We're cookin 🔥.
So a looootttt of news in quick succession at United and a lot of good news at that. And the transfer window has just opened.
