The interim seeks his fifth-straight victory as United head back to the capital to take on Nuno Espirito Santo and West Ham, another side who are in good form.

United's interim spoke about the Hammers, injuries, Bruno Fernandes and trying to not get too ahead of themselves.

At this point, it should come as no surprise that Mount and De Ligt are unavailable. Carrick confirms that both will miss the trip to West Ham.

The interim still wants to feels the emotions of winning games but believes that one cannot get carried away even after such a run: "Winning games is what we're all strive for but you have to come back into training and be focused on the next one."

He feels that despite the recent success, "nothing has really happened yet." He wants to see more between now and the end of the season.

Carrick hinted that perhaps tomorrow night will see something different from his side as "different games throw up different things." He explained that he and his staff inform the players of the different situations they can face each game and that it's about understanding those situations.

On West Ham, he says that they're a very good team in transition and that they have some real threat in their attack.

"He's bright and he cares a lot for this club." Carrick on his influential skipper Bruno Fernandes who recently racked up 200 goal contributions for the club with his winner against Spurs. The interim and captain have a good relationship says the boss.

Final Thoughts

I like this whole needing to stay grounded approach by Carrick. His calm demeanour suggests to me that he takes this very seriously as he isn't one to get carried away.

This is important because a lot of the time - particularly with the fans - people can get too ahead of themselves after going on a good run. Having a manager who wants to keep calm is key as if he started to get ahead of steam, then maybe that could be a problem.

He's also right in that nothing has really happened. Yes we've won four games on the bounce for the first time since 2024 but that didn't lead to a title of CL qualification. There's still much to be done.

We've been in this position too, with Carrick. He was assistant to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when the Norwegian was in charge. They went on a mad run of eight wins in a row. We all know what happened thereafter. Carrick is halfway to those victories.

This doesn't mean that I think we shouldn't celebrate wins and feel confident about the next game because I do. It's part of football and when you've been starved of this joy for so long, you are allowed to get a little giddy.

When it comes to West Ham, it is a different type of challenge. We will be the favourites but that won't mean things are easy. We drew to them earlier in the season after all. They are also on a good run of three wins in their last four which shows they are a decent side.

As Carrick said, they are good in transition which is something Santo is famous for having done so pretty well at both Wolves and Forest. Crysencio Summerville is a player to watch out for as he has 5 goals in his last five. He and Jarrod Bowen are the type of threat Carrick is referring to. They will be a handful.

This might indicate a different sort of approach from the interim. I don't want to go too much into detail here but I will do so in the preview tomorrow.

However, one thing I will give to you now is that I believe we will see a change in the team. I feel that Carrick will pick Sesko ahead of Cunha.

This is a game that feels more suited to a proper striker. I don't think what we've been doing in terms of playing a lot on the transition ourselves will cut the mustard against an opponent like this.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
