Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha has finally put pen to paper and signed his Man Utd contract. The news was officially announced this afternoon as we saw the 25 year old in the new kit for the first time.
His contract is until June 2030 with an option to extend for a further year.
Cunha says that “It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player" and that ever since he was a child, United had been his preferred English side.
“I can’t wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my team-mates and prepare for the season ahead. All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top.”
Newly-appointed Director of Football Jason Wilcox mentioned how signing the Brazilian "was one of our main priorities for this summer." Wilcox was full of praise for what Cunha had done previously at Wolves and in Spain with Atletico Madrid and Germany with RB Leipzig.
I think we are all happy with this signing as we have been since the green light was given a few weeks ago. It's also good to have someone in early as it will give them the opportunity to go on pre-season and get used to their new manager and teammates.
This is always an advantage as you don't want a player to be joining too late as that could make a difference to our season.

I'm chuffed with this signing. I believe he ticks all the boxes for what we need and will do a great job under Ruben Amorim.
Welcome Matheus to the greatest club in the world 🤝.
