Manchester United’s first summer signing has been officially announced as Brazilian midfielder Matheus Cunha leaves Wolves to join the Red Devils.
The deal is worth £62.5m on a five-year contract with the option to extend for a further year.
With the transfer window officially opening today, it allowed the club to make this announcement even though we’ve known that this was going to happen some time ago.
But it is a great deal as Cunha is a top player who ticks all the boxes (link) and the fact that he still wanted to come to United despite us being crap is a huge positive. The transfer itself is also something that puts a smile on our faces because there’s been very little joy at ou club since pretty much the first game of last season when Joshua Zirkzee’s debut goal put us on top of the league.
Those were the days 😔.
However, this could be the boost we need moving forward as the 25 year old will no doubt bring something to this team that has been missing: quality and character.
I’m looking to having him on board as he was kind of the Bruno Fernandes for Wolves when you look at his importance to their side as well as output.
Speaking of the skipper, we’ve yet to know what his future is as Al-Hilal await his decision. Is Cunha a possible replacement for the captain? Will he play alongside the magnifico? What does this move mean for others in the squad?
All those questions will be answered as the transfer window moves and we prepare for next season.
But now that he has joined, we need to see more movement because one player in, is nowhere near enough. There's not been much movement other than the Brazilian.
