Man Utd MUST steer clear of Dusan Vlahovic!

Juve striker will be a free agent

MUFC are linked with every striker available in football. Hell, if you're capable of putting the ball in the back of a net, keep your phone nearby as you might receive a notification or three about how United are keeping tabs on you.

As Juventus are looking to terminate striker Dusan Vlahovic's contract even though he has a year remaining on his current deal, you know what's going to happen.

It isn't a surprise with this player though, that our name has been associated with him as United have been linked to Vlahovic in the past, as recently as January in fact, and now that he appears on his way out, here we are again.

Gianluca Di Marzio is the one who is reporting the news that the Old Lady is looking at ending Vlahovic's time at the club. He says "Juventus plans to terminate Dusan Vlahovic's contract, and the striker is eager to join the Premier League. He's reportedly hopeful Manchester United will make a move for him now that he's potentially available" via SimplyUtd.

The reason we have to ask ourselves is why?

Firstly, would Vlahovic actually work in this United team if he were to join?

He is better than Hojlund and Zirkzee as a striker although they don't set the bar too high. He also has a bit more experience than them which does help but that is as far is his advantages go.

The Serbian is still only 25 years old meaning that he has a good few years ahead of him in his career. I do admittedly like the player. I liked him before he went to Juventus as he was one of the hottest strikers whilst at Fiorentina and I thought it was a good move for Juve to sign him.

However, things have not gone quite to plan in Turin. Vlahovic hasn't been complete shit (58 goals, 14 assists in 145 games) but he's been more of a flop than success at Juventus. That isn't a bad return yet you would expect a bit more from a striker of his quality. Yes Juve have their difficulties on the pitch as they aren't as free flowing as they once were which would make things more difficult for any striker and is a similar issue we've faced at United as our play style has been poor, but for someone like Vlahovic, he should be doing much better.

The 25 year old also has his injury woes. Mind you it ain't anything like Luke Shaw's but he does miss a few games here and there as he does pick up the odd knock.

Then there's some of the off-field problems.

He's apparently resisted any moves because he wants to see out his current deal which sees him on a wage of €373k-a-week (Capology).

There's been issues with the coaching staff as ever since Randal Kolo Muani arrived in January, there's been friction between Vlahovic and the technical staff at Juve as they preferred the Frenchman over the Serb as he had to deal with unwanted bench time.

Vlahovic on social media liked a Jude Bellingham post after Real Madrid beat Juventus in a Club World Cup game. Even his behavior and attitude have been called into question.

We have too much drama like this at United so we don't need anymore of it.

He doesn't necessarily suit Amorim's 3-4-3 either. While the Serb does tick the boxes of hold-up play and finishing, he isn't the best at pressing which is vital in such a system, his link-up play can be hit and miss nor is he the most creative (although you don't need your no 9 to be a Bruno Fernandes), he doesn't have the best off-the-ball movement and he certainly isn't a player who works hard.

As mentioned earlier, Vlahovic has a high wage of £317k-a-week which is also a major turnoff. We know United want to do away with these high wages and it wouldn't make sense to add another player of this sort to the side. We can see that Vlahovic doesn't really want to take a wage cut as per those contract issues.

However, the biggest red flags about Vlahovic is that Juventus are willing to terminate his contract. In fact, they're so desperate to let him go that he is reportedly involved in a potential swap deal with Jadon Sancho going the other way. Douglas Luiz and Timothy Weah were other players mentioned but wanting to swap a player for Sancho?!

There must be something truly wrong with Vlahovic for Juventus to want Sancho instead. We know that MF is a nightmare. Chelsea even paid United £5m to take him back after his loan spell.

To be fair to Vlahovic, he could be like one of our cases where he's had a torrid time at his current club, everyone thinks he's shite, he goes somewhere on loan like Antony to Real Betis, rips it up and everyone has a change of heart.

But whether United should be taking such a risk is another matter. We have way too many of our own problems and we don't need another. Yes we need a proper striker and while he is better than what we have, just because a player is an improvement doesn't mean we should sign them. Vlahovic isn't that prolific on top of all his other issues as well.

This is the exact type of deal United would do because we're stupid, isn't it?

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
