I don't think we need any information about morale being low at Manchester United. Just by looking at them, one can view a club that is on it's knees from top to bottom.
This recent tour to Asia is a great example of that.
Straight after the final game of the season, United flew halfway across the world to play two meaningless friendlies which tbh nobody wanted to (I doubt even the fans in Malayasia and China even cared) all for £8m.
The fans that did actually bother to pull up (not sure why they hate themselves so much to punish themselves like this) saw what we've been seeing throughout the season as United went down 1-0 to a made-up team that got together days before in preparation for this game in Kuala Lumpur.
Not only was the performance dire, we couldn't even give them a goal.
Weirdly though, they got the true United experience.
At least in Hong Kong, there were 3 goals from the visitors that put a smile on people's faces. Those goals also came from youngsters as Chido Obi was at the double while Ayden Heaven scored his first for the club which always makes everyone feel better whenever youngsters get on the score sheet.
I can understand why the performance in that first game was pathetic. Not only are we just a bad team but after the season we had and losing the Europa League final, to then have to fly to Malaysia and play meaningless frinedlies for £8m, you will be quite flat.
That still doesn't mean that they shouldn't try their best as those fans paid good money to be there and nor do they get to see their team in the flesh.
That was perhaps a once in a lifetime experience for some of them.
So where is this news about low morale coming from then?
The United Stand have reported that "the moral in the United dressing room has never been so low. Totally brought about by the way the club is being run by the owners. There's also amazement at how slow and indecisive United are acting in the transfer window so far."
I know this fan channel can be quite divisive just like our club, but they do get really good information and very rarely miss so this is probably true.
Again, we didn't need such information to know this about United but the fact that it's out there makes it even more evident.
Considering the seasons we've had over the past 12 years and particularly since 2020, the fact that this is the lowest the dressing room morale has ever been tells you just how grave the situation at the club truly is.
I think we are all also fed up with the way the club is being run and not just this past year when INEOS came in.
I doubt we ever thought we could get worse whilst the Glazer's were in chrage yet here we are.
With them, we were terrible, with them and INEOS,
GOOD LORD!
We've never been so bad as a team. You know all the unwanted records we broke. Whenever we've had bad seasons in the past, the club panicked and ended up buying some decent players. They also usually back new managers in their first season.
But this isn't just the Glazers anymore, it's the Glazers and INEOS and so far, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co haven't done a fine job of sorting things out. They came in with this Avengers-style football structure yet we are still shit. In fact, we're even worse.
They sort of sold us dreams with the board they formed but never really delivered, at least not yet and because of this, we are unsure whether they will deliver at all.
I will give them credit for last summer's window though. They did back Erik ten Hag but it always seemed like they never really wanted him as manager (Sir Jim said it was a mistake to keep the Dutchman in charge for a couple of months before sacking him) making his signings kind of a waste knowing that they were going to sack him and bring in someone else who would want his own players to suit his system.
To be fair though, those ten Hag signings have been some of our better players this season even in Ruben Amorim's different setup.
But aside from the signings, they didn't back Amorim (their guy) in January, they've made all of these sackings (with more to come no doubt) and cost-cutting measures with some of it taken to the absolute extreme.
All of these things don't fill people with hope for the future and just adds to the deflation that we've suffered on the field. We needed something to give us hope moving forward.
United have also traditionally been slow in the transfer market. We dawdle to a point where we panic buy particularly towards the end of the window at which point, we overspend and those players end up missing a couple of games at the start of the new campaign.
We never seem prepared in the window as we always just see what we can do rather than know what we will do despite the club saying that they have a plan. Amorim himself has said it so many times one might actually believe him but when you hear this low morale coming out of the club and see the little business being done, we don't truly believe they have a plan.
Matheus Cunha is a good start to the window but one player like him isn't enough. We need about four or five at least to truly see us improve on the field. And even if they're not signing players, they could look to move those on who need to be. United are filled with deadwood players and those such as Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof all needed to go, but with their contracts up and Evans retiring, it's hardly the club getting rid of them, is it?
Bruno Fernandes is a player who is in the headlines for a different reason and that is regarding his future. Al-Hilal are reportedly willing to give United whatever they want in order to secure the magnifico's signature. A large sum of money could do wonders for this club, if spent wisely, which again, is where this doubt comes in with the board because the past tells us that they usually waste the money.
No point selling your best player and doing the wrong business with that £100m+.
Many are saying this is a no-brainer deal due to that large amount while others have an attachment to the captain causing them to want him to stay. However, such an amount cannot be ignored for what it can do for the future of this club.
Other than Bruno though, there are several others that can be sold.
Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and probably more. That should at least give us £100m+ as well if we do business properly and if you add Bruno's potential £100m+, then there really should be no complaints about not signing players because we have no money.
If anything, we should work on departures first so we know how much we have in order to buy the players Amorim wants.
But the players themselves have to be blamed for the low morale too.
While they aren't involved with what happens at board level, they are for the most important thing of it all: the football.
They get paid hundreds of thousands of pounds a week and live like rockstars but can't pass a ball straigth over 5-yards. That's not on Sir Jim Ratcliffe or the Glazers.
Hell, the least we ask for is for them to show up.
They can't even do that regularly.
I'm also not sure what type of business they want to see the club do because from the way they perform, you would think that they would almost intentionally throw games away due to not showing up.
Those type of performances would make it even harder for the club to sell such players because who would want to buy that? This would mean continuing at Man Utd, playing at a relatively high level, all whilst earning a hell of a lot of money for doing basically nothing.
How long have some of these players survived on that?
Some of the business they may want the club to do could be to move them on and is that what they want? There was news not so long ago that everyone is for sale so...
It all works together. How badly run the club is filters down to the manager and players and eventually the football we see.
I also don't like the fact that all this type of news keeps getting leaked. I thought that that was gone too 🤷♂️.
We really should be keeping this in-house and trying to solve the problem within before it gets out.
This is a further indication of how the club are not in control of themselves.
We are just poor all round.
