The United interim admits to being a little impatient about having to way for Sunday's game against Villa as he and his side look to get back to winning ways after suffering first defeat under Carrick.
He spoke about his tenure, ex-teammates, ex-players, a possible return for a player and more.
Carrick confirms that Mason Mount is back training and hinted at a possible involvement for Villa's trip on Sunday. Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs De Ligt and Patrick Dorgu remain out.
The interim also remains calm about his ex-teammate Paul Scholes' comments about playing poorly in the last four matches. Scholes cleared up his words by saying that he meant it as a positive in that if a team can play that poorly but still pick up points, it's a good thing. Many intepreted that in a negative manner but for Carrick, he says that he's "quite calm about it" and that with social media, things can be taken in different ways.

On the week ahead of this match, Carrick says it's been good despite the disappointing result to Newcastle. They've digested that game and learned from their mistakes but admits, that he is "itching to get going on Sunday."
The interim believes that it's just "one of those things" when a player doesn't work out at a club like Jadon Sancho at United, a player he knows from his time at the club in 21/22 when Sancho was signed. Carrick believes that the talent is clear but we'll have to wait and see about how things go in his future.
Another one of his former players from Middlesborough Morgan Rogers is having a superb season to which Carrick responded saying that he's been in good form for a good period.
He spoke about how quickly he's adapted to life at Villa to a point where he is now a major player for Unai Emery as well as made it into the England squad which displays how well he's done this season.
United's interim was also praising of Rogers' attributes citing his ball carrying ability, how he can create and score goals, use both his left and right-foot and that his all-round athleticism is top notch.
Carrick says that it's about looking ahead at what's next in terms of his tenure so far. How you react to results, how the squad reacts, the emotions, and how they make the best of the situation. "What is the motivation for the next game and driving that forward."
The loss to Newcastle was Carrick's first defeat as interim and he believes that it can give them a chance to improve and use these setbacks as motivation.
He also spoke about Harry Maguire and his performances saying that the ex-skipper is "playing well" and that after recovering from injury, he was straight back in the team.
Final Thoughts
Look, we need to sell Mount. Guy is an absolute waste of space.
The player is actually pretty good and very useful in any system. He has experience yet is still relatively young at 27 but these injuries are just ridiculous.
Even if there is a chance he could be back on Sunday, there's going to be a next time with him, maybe even this season as he's already had three issues.
You cannot rely on him.
As for the Scholes thing, I interpreted it in the more negative way. I thought he meant we've been shit and were lucky to have picked up as many points as we did.
That's the way it came across, in my opinion at least.
And can you blame everyone else who thought of it in this way?
The ex-players - Scholes included - can be unnecessarily negative towards United. I know that there isn't much to be happy about with the club but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give credit where it's due. I think this is why a lot of people felt that what Scholes said was to take a dig at Carrick.
And you know what, I don't disagree with him.
I think we have been shit recently. I think we have gotten away with good results. Scholes would've been right to criticize if that was his intention, which as we know now, wasn't.
Let's just move on from this. Carrick has.
We're all itching to go mate.
This season has been the worst in terms of waiting for matches. This has nothing to do with Carrick because he wasn't part of what caused this but he can certainly be a reason to rectify it.
So far, that's exactly what he's doing.
To have these long gaps between matches is an absolute drag and to have to watch everyone else play during the week makes it even worse.
I'm happy that he kept the players at home this time instead of giving them extra time off and allowing them to go overseas. They needed to stay in Manchester and try to improve upon that disaster of a performance at Newcastle.
It's good that Carrick is feeling this itch to get going again because we fans certainly do. It must go through that team as well because they were a big part in putting us in this situation.
They need to sort this out more than anyone else and if they're feeling upset about not playing that much, good. They should be. Use this as motivation.
They better make better use of this extra time though. We can't be sluggish and lethargic on Sunday otherwise all of this time off was a real waste.
We CANNOT let this happen again!
Losing to Newcastle may not have been a bad thing. I actually believe it was a necessary defeat.
We had perhaps felt a little invincible with Carrick. Losing last time out showed us that we weren't. A disappointing loss like that could be exactly what the team needs for the final push of the season. The fact that Chelsea in 5th closed the gap to us to 3 points also gives us an added incentive to have a good finish to the campaign.
If they cannot use all of these things - UCL football, positive reaction to defeat, the pressures of those behind us - as a motivation, then they will never use anything.
This is an opportunity for these lads to show us that this was a one-off against Newcastle and that they are going to give it everything until the end.
