You know, when it was announced that DCL was to leave Everton on a free, we all knew that United would be linked to him.

There was a lot of jokes and sarcasm that MUFC would look into a potential deal considering that we need a striker and we’ve been linked to him before. A bit of jokes and sarcasm but with a tinge of fear for it might be true.

Those fears seem to have come to pass as United have been linked with the forward which has caused a bit of a meltdown.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now a consideration for United as multiple reports have stated. “#mufc have free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin on their list of potential striker signings this summer” - talkSPORT.

Fabrizio Romano has also stated that Calvert-Lewin has been offered to a number of clubs which includes United [The United Stand].

As I said, this isn’t the first time United have been linked with the 28 year old after the club were in for him back in 2020 as well as 2021 and 2024. I didn’t think he was good enough then and he’s even worse now.

He is decent at best but is as injury prone as Luke Shaw. It’s pretty tough to keep up with him when it comes to injuries but here is that DCL injury history:

Yeah.

And this is a player that we’re apparently looking at.

I thought we had ambition.

I thought we had the ‘best in class.’

We’ve complained about not signing enough players so far in the window and nor have we let any go which obviously meant we weren’t raising any funds which in turn meant that we couldn’t really buy any players.

And now we’re looking at Calvert-Lewin 🤦‍♂️.

Whether these links are true or not, the fact that once he was available, we all knew that United would be looking at him, tells you a lot about how predictable our club are. Even with a new football board and structure, even with new co-owners, it is still the old ways of conducting business.

We need a striker. But we don’t any striker.

If we really want to improve and start closing the gap, we cannot be looking at the likes of Calvert-Lewin. I can’t believe I’m even typing this.

He is an Everton-level player. And I know that we finished below them in the table but c'mon, we’re Man Utd for fuck sakes! This is one of those times where the name itself is more than enough.

To think that we finished 15th and are then try to sign players of that quality tells you everything you should know about this club.

When INEOS came in and we brought in one of Man City’s chiefs in Omar Berrada as well as City’s academy guy Jason Wilcox, I think we all felt like these were good appointments by United. They certainly looked the part and when you add one of the best recruiters in Christopher Vivell, you would’ve thought that we were going to do a madness in the window.

All we have is Cunha which weirdly was a brilliant deal. Great player for a great price who was brought in early and set the tone for the window but how we’ve gone from that to nothing since (Cunha was official on 1 June), still struggling to get Mbeumo over the line even though we’ve passed the one month mark since David Ornstein dropped that news and to also not having sold anyone when that was/is as important as bringing in players, is utterly disappointing.

You look at those clubs above us and all of them are improving by quite a bit. They were already miles better as well.

That brings me to Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede who was Ruben Amorim’s main man at Sporting and long time target of United’s, looks set to join Arsenal.

I know 😔.

This will ramp up those Calvert-Lewin rumors even more as one of our targets for the no 9 position appears to be gone.

Victor Osimhen is the best that’s left but we know there’s problems because of his high wage demands, Dusan Vlahovic is another but he is a bit divisive, Hugo Ekitike is expensive and looks like he's heading to Liverpool, Watkins who isn’t a bad shout but not exactly what we want but he’s definitely better than bloody DCL.

If we do sign Calvert-Lewin, it shows we have no ambition and that we’re not a serious club.

We also may as well call next season off.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
