After what seemed like centuries, MUFC have finally announced the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
He has signed a deal until June 2030 with an option for a further year.
The 25 year old had this to say regarding his move:
“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up.
“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.
“Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”
Next to him was Director of Football Jason Wilcox who said:
“Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional, his remarkable consistency has put him amongst the most productive players in England for the last three seasons.
“Bryan’s belief in our project and determination to join the club confirmed that he was the perfect fit for Manchester United and the culture that we are developing.
“We are delighted to have secured another one of our primary targets ahead of the pre-season tour. The experience in the US will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new team-mates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead.”

Final Thoughts
Just to get this deal over the line is like a weight lifted off our shoulders. We've waited since the 2nd of June for this to happen and it has taken all of 49 days before we see Mbeumo in the red shirt.
But now we can start to move forward.
I was surprised when he said he wanted to join us and only us and after we signed Cunha, it was surprising that we could get another no 10. There are plenty of those in the squad so how would he fit in?
Now that he's here, I am quite happy because looking at his attributes and player profile (I have a post on this coming tomorrow), you can see that signing this player makes A LOT of sense.
Talking about how he supported United growing up is something you love to hear and we hear it all the time with new signings but with Mbeumo, I feel like it's more true than compared to some others. You know you get those posts of a player in a United shirt when they were a kid but it doesn't feel like they're a United fan? I don't get that with Mbeumo. I genuinely believe he supported MUFC as a kid.
He speaks about his mentality and character, that is certainly something we need more than anything when it comes to the players. We know that our squad for a long time has been made up of fragile players who easily drop their heads when things go wrong. We need the stronger mentalities like Mbeumo to come in and try to remove that weakness.
Wilcox saying that he is the perfect fit because of his consistency in terms of his output and because he was desperate to join the club, is true: this does make him perfect.
Again, in my player profile, you will see that he ticks almost all boxes for what's needed as a United player in this system. And you always want a player to say they want to join United. When it comes from their mouth, that's how you know it's true.
The fact that we signed him before the US tour is another positive because he can now be embedded into the system and get used to his new teammates. Pre-season is key in a player becoming accustomed to a new club sooner rather than later.
What I also liked about Mbeumo is that despite saying he wanted to join United quite a while ago, there was no fuss, there was no player strike and he kept things professional. Other than that report of him being frustrated, there wasn't much else about potential bad behaviour and one also couldn't blame him for being upset because we all were. This deal did take far too long but at least we got there in the end.
Him rocking up in a suit for his medical yesterday is also something that I like. There's just something about a suit that displays ultimate professionalism compared to jeans and a t-shirt.
I'm already liking this player the more I get to know him. Really excited to see him cook at Yanited.
Bryan Mbeumo, welcome to the greatest club in the world 🤝
