Those boos are coming from the crowd not me. Boos are a waste of time now because I don't even feel anything with this team anymore.
But the Kuala Lumpur crowd let it be known to United that they were unhappy with the display in their first pre-season game. Ruben Amorim came out after the match and said "I feel guilty" and that the boos from the fans was something that they needed to hear.
β
I'm going to be honest with you, I didn't watch the game, I didn't want to watch the game. Unless United are coming to my country (South Africa, which they don't anymore) the chances of me watching any pre-season game is little and less.
However, when I saw that the game was being streamed live on the club's YouTube channel, I was slightly tempted to check what was going on. This was just before the game began.
I didn't watch any of it but thought that at least they're showing this game for free.
However...
They did show the game for free,
for 50 seconds π.
50 FUCKING SECONDS is all they showed of this silly pre-season game that most don't actually care about, least of all those players when you see how they performed.
β
This club is so hatable and we support them π.
Can't even show a pre-season game for free even if it is on MUTV, which is what came on the screen to inform everyone that that is where they can go and watch the rest of the match.
I pity those who did because that was another shambolic display from a side that is shambolic.
β
I understand that the players would be tired after a long season, playing on Sunday and then having to fly halfway across the world, but they do have a duty and that duty is to at least show up.
Then again, this is this United and we know that not showing up is in their DNA, even if it is a pre-season match.
But for those who don't get to see our club in the flesh that often, you would want some sort of spectacle. Those people and every other fan who goes to games or makes a plan to watch the match, pays a lot of money to do so and these players can't even show up.
Despite a horrific campaign in which we achieved our lowest-ever points tally and position, no trophies, no European football, losing to Spurs in the Europa League final, inconsistencies, manager sackings and all the shit off the field, fans still showed up.
And that team couldn't.
They couldn't even give them a goal.
If that isn't a clear sign that a HUGE clearout is needed, then I don't know what is.
β
The United manager did field a mixed side in terms of seniors and youngsters which always excites the crowd and is good for the young lads to get some minutes but when that is all that is exciting...
Amorim also said post-match that "all the young players tried and that's the most important thing." The manager is praising effort π. This maybe directed specifically towards the youngsters but it could also be to the wider squad in that the academy players can try but you can't.
Perhaps it's a bit of both but the fact that he has to come out and laud effort tells you something.
He also spoke about it being a positive that there were no injuries.
β
On top of it all, Andre Onana, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot jetted off to India to do some commercial shit. The rest of the squad will be headed to Hong Kong for the second pre-season fixture.
Like, what the fuck are doing? Why are we even in these places? United are the only side I know that are on pre-season already and the current football campaign still isn't over as the Champions League final has yet to be played.
And we can't even show up and we're sending players to other countries to do whatever to make some money. The club can't even show this shitshow for free as well.
π€£ππ€£π. If you don't laugh you'll cry.
β
Amorim said that the good times are coming is his rally cry of a speech after the final game of the season but also said that the big plan this window is to improve the current squad in his pre-season presser on Tuesday.
Those two things don't go hand-in-hand. It's one or the other. You simply cannot improve those players. Cannot be done β.
I like the fact that the crowd boo'ed them because they need to know how we truly feel. It's okay to show up and support the team but when they don't deliver, feelings need to be known.
For this to happen in a pre-season game is damning as well because like I said, a lot of these people don't get to watch the club they support live because of location so when the opportunity to do so arises, they will want to enjoy it.
That obviously wasn't the case and to top it all off, the ASEAN All-Stars were a made-up team that trained for this game a couple of days before the match.
We suck.
