Yes, in just UNDER 2 weeks! Ruben Amorim and co will return to Carrington for the start of pre-season training.
I do get a little excited when seeing the players and manager return to the training ground as it means that we are back, sort of.
These three months every year is the most boring as there is no club football. While it is a bit of a catch 22 situation with United - we are shit and they spoil our days/ weeks but I do miss watching them play - I just enjoy seeing United on the pitch.
Those initial training ground pics signal a step forward as we move into the new campaign. New kits, new training gear, new balls. It is quite lovely.
But the fact that it's coming so soon is worrying.
It's worrying because all the business we've done (at this point) is sign Matheus Cunha. One player. There's also been no outgoings and there's plenty of those that need to happen.
I'm always someone who likes to see a few new faces in those training ground arrivals. Players walking in with their toiletry bag under their arm and boots in their hands is great but then you look at who it is and you're disappointed that it is so and so who shouldn't be there. In fact, how he's managed to survive so long at the club is a mystery in itself.
That does deflate you a little.

All we will be seeing is Cunha.
Bryan Mbeumo does look likely but it isn't a done deal (yet) nor have we had any 'Here we go.' There's also talk about Garnacho, Rashford, Antony and Sancho all potentially departing but again, nothing concrete enough to make you believe that you definitely won't see them on pre-season.
There's even talk that Rashford could return to pre-season training if he cannot leave United.
That shouldn't be happening.
And it's because of this that I'm frustrated.
Some of these players have been here a long time and have never shown their qualities consistently enough whether that be as a footballer or their attitude. Sancho and Garnacho are examples.
Antony is one who needs to go as well but at least he's trying to get an exit in the right manner. It was also reported that the Brazilian is top of the list in terms of players who are likeliest to leave. This again just shows how well he's done to turn things around and have clubs looking at him.
Selling these guys also brings in money that you could use to buy other players. United are in need of a striker, there's links to Emi Martinez and other goalkeepers, and Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic has previously stated that Amorim wants an athletic midfielder.
We can't do all this business with the limited funds we have and all those that need to be sold still there.
We also cannot do it all before the start of pre-season training, which is when the manager would like all or at least some of the new signings in and those he doesn't want gone.
Just seeing the likes of Cunha, Mbeumo a new no 9 and GK walk into training on the opening day boosts morale and lends a new sense of optimism for the future and God, do we need some positivity for next season.
Bringing them in early also gives them a chance to get used to the new manager, his system, tactics, their new teammates and time to bond on and off the field.
That could make a massive difference in the season and particularly the start. The last thing you want is for them to join a few games in when you're already playing catchup.
Here's a reminder of our first five games:
Arsenal (H)
Fulham (A)
Burnley (H)
City (A)
Chelsea (H)
Three of last season's top 4, the side that knocked us out of the FA Cup and a newly promoted side at the start of the season is going to be ridiculously hard.
It was going to be ridiculously hard even with the new signings but without them...
I just think back to 1999. United were clearly missing something and in the end, brought in Dwight Yorke. The partnership he and Andy Cole developed right away was something special and was the spark for what turned out to be our greatest season ever.
Perhaps the same could happen with some of our new signings with each other or their new teammates? Amorim will have the time to instill his values into them as when they join during the season, there's less time for this and they need to get up to speed straight away which is going to be tough.
They could also make the difference in these early games. Imagine we have a breakaway against Arsenal and we're 1-0 down with 5 minutes to go. Mbeumo was played through by Cunha and the Cameroonian runs the length of the field to score past David Raya and get us something out of that game.
We all feel pretty great to have not lost to Arsenal, to grab a late goal and for it to come from a new player which makes us believe even more that we brought the right man in.
That point could also make a difference come the end of the season.
If that player happens to be one of the current crop and we know they aren't reliable in such situations and they cock up again, we'd all be upset and think 'why are they still here?'
These things all add to the overall mood of the club which as we know, is quite dark and unhappy. To see some players who need to be sold moved on and new signings come in, it really would lighten that mood and make us feel a bit more confident about the future.
What we're doing at the moment by moving slow with deals and not getting rid of players just adds to that dark mood. The club are doing nothing to make us feel better.
On top of it all, the manager himself will be frustrated because all he has right now is one new signing and several players he doesn't want. How is he supposed to be successful if he's not backed?
It's clear this team isn't good enough nor trustworthy (just as they haven't been for a long time) which is why change is needed.
This was also a chance for INEOS to show us they mean business. Many are not in favor of the co-owners considering all they've done so if they started this transfer window like a house on fire, then maybe there would be more who come around to them.
To be fair, they did back Erik ten Hag last year and he wasn't the manager they wanted. Amorim is and there is time left in the window (it closes on September 1st) so we could still do the business we need to.
It's just moving along at a snail's pace.
What's worse is seeing our rivals who were already way better than us, do a lot of early business. United needed to do more than most and have done little and less.
We gotta get moving.
Anybody else frustrated at the slowness of the window so far and are concerned that we won't have all or most of what we need done before the start of pre-season training? Or am I just paranoid?
